Diversity & Implicit Bias
Diversity is a strength that only adds to the quality of care in any health system. In order to utilize it we need to understand our systems and our own implicit bias. This conference will help us explore these topics and develop strategies for identifying and overcoming unseen biases.
GI Radiology & Journal Club
A lot to learn this week. We begin with a introduction to abdominal cross section imaging then dive into some literature with Journal Club. Articles to be posted soon!
Patient Safety Video and Conversation
Our patients are our primary focus. We will discuss patient safety and how we can continue to improve.
GI Path+Esophageal Disorders+ VA M&M
Packed day starting with foundations of GI path. Then Dr. Wadhwa will go over Achalasia and spastic esophageal disorders. Last but not least VA M&M conference

Research presentation & Med/Peds Case Presentation
Dr. Farooq & Dr. Sharma will present some of their ongoing research. Second half of the afternoon will be a Med/Peds case presentation

Autoimmune and Cholestatic Liver Disease + Med/Surg Case
Dr. Schoech will be guiding us through autoimmune and cholestatic liver disease. Following will be our first med/surg case conference of the year!

Liver Histology and Journal Club
Starting our education in path we will first learn normal liver histology. That session will be followed by a journal article review. Article TBD

Acute on Chronic Liver Failure & Intro to Manometry
To finish up the summer series we will discuss acute on chronic liver failure and manometry!


Transplant Immune Suppression & Viral Hepatitis

Dr. Schoch & Dr. Brook will be leading the Thursday Summer Lecture Series this week. Topics include Bowel obstructions and nutrition.

Portal HTN & IBD
On deck is a discussion of portal HTN and Varices by Dr. Bari, followed by A run down of IBD pathophysiology with Dr. Ramprasad.
